About the Program
Q: What is the Paws & Peace Online Grief Program?
A: The Paws & Peace Online Grief Program is a self-paced, online support space for people experiencing anticipatory grief (before loss) or grief after the loss of a beloved animal companion. It offers gentle guidance, education, reflection tools, and rituals to help you navigate this chapter with more support and less isolation. It is not therapy and not veterinary or medical care.
Q: Who is this program for?
A: This program is designed for:
Pet parents caring for senior, seriously ill, or declining animals
Anyone preparing to say goodbye through euthanasia or natural passing
People grieving a recent or past pet loss
Those feeling guilty, numb, overwhelmed, or “stuck” in their grief
People who feel like others don’t understand because “it was just a pet”
You’re welcome here whether you’re in the thick of daily caregiving, sitting in the in-between, or months after loss trying to make sense of your new normal.
Q: Is this only for dogs and cats?
A: No. The tools and support in this program are for anyone grieving a beloved animal—dogs, cats, horses, small animals, and more. If they were family to you, this space is for you.
Q: Is this therapy or counseling?
A: No. This program is educational and emotionally supportive only. It does not provide mental health diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention. It doesn’t replace working with a licensed therapist, counselor, or other mental health professional.
If you are under the care of a therapist, you’re welcome to use this program alongside your therapy and even share the materials with them if you’d like their support integrating it.
Q: Is this veterinary or medical advice?
A: No. Nothing in this program is medical or veterinary advice. It cannot diagnose, treat, or interpret your pet’s symptoms, and it will never tell you when it’s “time.” All medical questions and euthanasia decisions should be discussed with your veterinarian or veterinary team.
This program is here for your heart, while your veterinary team is there for your pet’s medical needs.
Timing & Readiness
Q: When is the “right” time to join—before or after my pet passes?
A: There’s no single “right” time. You can join:
While your pet is still with you (anticipatory grief)
When you’re approaching or considering euthanasia
Shortly after loss
Weeks, months, or even years later if grief resurfaces
Grief is not linear. You’re welcome whenever you feel drawn to extra support.
Q: What if I’m completely overwhelmed and can’t focus?
A: That’s very normal. Lessons are intentionally gentle and digestible. You can:
Watch or listen in short bursts
Skip around to what you need most
Pause and return on another day
Revisit modules when new waves of grief arise
There is no deadline, no required pace, and no “behind” in this space.
Q: Is it okay if I’m not sure how I feel yet?
A: Yes. Many people move between numbness, shock, sadness, relief, anger, and confusion. You don’t have to have words for what you feel to benefit from the program. Sometimes the tools and reflections help you gently find that language.
What’s Inside the Program
Q: What kinds of lessons and materials are included?
A: The program includes a mix of:
Short video and/or audio lessons
Printable workbooks and worksheets
Reflection and journaling prompts
Gentle guided meditations and grounding practices
Ritual and memorial planning tools
Tools to support surviving pets and family members
End-of-life preparation and after-loss support (non-medical)
You can download and keep the materials for personal use.
Q: How long are the lessons?
A: Lessons are intentionally kept on the shorter side so they feel manageable when your energy and focus are limited. Most can be watched, listened to, or read in small windows of time.
Q: Do I have to complete everything in order?
A: No. The program is structured with a suggested flow (from anticipatory grief through after-loss healing), but you’re invited to:
Start where you are emotionally
Skip sections that feel too intense right now
Return to modules later as they become relevant
This is a “choose what you need” experience, not a rigid curriculum.
Access, Tech & Format
Q: How do I access the course?
A: After enrolling, you’ll receive an email with a link to your private course portal. You can log in from a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access.
Q: How long do I have access to the course?
A: You receive lifetime access to the program, including any future updates or additions to the course content.
Q: What if I’m not very tech-savvy?
A: The portal is designed to be simple and user-friendly. Most people only need to click into a module and press “play” or download a file. If you run into trouble, you can always reach out for basic tech support via email.
Q: Can I download the materials?
A: Yes. Most worksheets, workbooks, and reflection tools are downloadable as PDFs (or similar formats) that you can save or print for your personal use.
Scope, Safety & Crisis
Q: What if I’m in a mental health crisis?
A: This program is not a crisis service and cannot respond in real time to emergencies. If you are in immediate emotional crisis or feel unsafe, please contact:
988 – Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US)
Your local emergency number (such as 911)
A local crisis line or emergency room
A licensed mental health professional
You can return to the course materials once you are safe and supported.
Q: Will this program tell me what to do about euthanasia?
A: No. The program does not make medical recommendations or tell you whether, when, or how to proceed with euthanasia. Those decisions must be made with your veterinarian, based on your pet’s individual medical condition and your values.
The course can support you emotionally around those decisions—helping you explore your feelings, fears, values, and rituals—but it will never advise on timing.
Q: Can I use this instead of therapy or veterinary visits?
A: No. This program is meant to complement, not replace:
Veterinary care for your pet
Mental health care for you
Other spiritual, community, or family supports
Think of it as a structured, gentle emotional companion for your journey.
Family, Children & Surviving Pets
Q: Will this help me support my children or family?
A: Yes. Several parts of the program and printable materials are designed to:
Help you talk to children about pet illness and loss in age-appropriate ways
Offer ideas for family rituals and memorials
Support partners or other family members who grieve differently
You can share many of the workbook pages or prompts with your family if you choose.
Q: Does the program address surviving pets?
A: Yes. There are tools and guidance for:
Noticing changes in surviving pets
Supporting their adjustment routines
Creating rituals that include them
Helping you feel more confident about caring for the pets who remain
All of this remains non-medical and focuses on emotional and environmental support.
Payment, Refunds & Privacy
Q: How much does the program cost?
A: Pricing is listed on the enrollment page and may change over time as content is added or updated. Any current discounts or payment options will be clearly displayed there.
Q: Do you offer payment plans or financial flexibility?
A: In some cases, limited sliding-scale or payment arrangements may be available. If cost is a barrier, you’re welcome to reach out via email to discuss possible options.
Q: Do you offer refunds?
A: You can set your own policy; here’s a gentle version you can adjust:
Because this is a digital, self-paced program with immediate access to downloadable materials, refunds are limited. If you feel the program truly isn’t a fit, please reach out within [X days] of purchase so we can talk through your situation and determine the best next step.
Q: Will my information be kept private?
A: Yes. Your personal information and any details you share in the course portal or with Paws & Peace are treated as confidential and are never shared or sold. Standard precautions are taken to protect your data, and only authorized team members have access to your client information.
(If you have a specific privacy policy, you can link it here.)
Working With You Beyond the Course
Q: Can I work with you 1:1 in addition to taking the course?
A: If you offer this, use something like:
Yes, depending on availability, you may be able to add one-on-one support sessions for more personalized guidance. Course members often choose to pair the self-paced materials with a few focused sessions. Details and current availability are listed in the “Work With Me” or “Sessions” section of the site.
If you don’t offer 1:1, just remove or replace this.
Q: Can I share the materials with friends or family?
A: You’re welcome to share certain worksheets or reflection prompts with close family members or household members as part of your personal grief process. The full course content, videos, and downloads are licensed for your personal use only and shouldn’t be redistributed or resold.
Still Have Questions?
